Our story

DO IN THAI grew out of a question asked by computer science students in 2008. How could we use our knowledge of technology creatively, make creative work, and earn and spend money creatively in response to rapidly changing social issues? The answers gradually emerged as we set out to meet people, learn about their problems, and share inspiration with one another, wherever we went.

Those journeys took us beyond the boundaries and four walls of our university classrooms and into life after graduation. A simple, steady way of working gradually took shape through experiences shared with the people who came to learn and spend time with us. Together, we explored paths in social development for people working in technology, science, engineering, the humanities, architecture, and design.

What connects our projects

A pain diary, a weather station and a way to share food bring us into different lives. In each, we exchange what we know about technology with people who know things we do not. We listen to what they have tried, decide together what is worth doing, and let what we learn change the plan.

We hope people gain knowledge, tools or relationships they can use beyond the project. We also share what we learn for others to consider in their own work. What connects these efforts is the wish to make a useful difference, with the people who live with the results helping to decide what comes next.
